LA Commercial Expands; New HIA Executive Director for the Hunter and Central Coast; Linx Group starts work on 'Paradiso'

LA Commercial expands
Central Coast based construction and project management company LA Commercial is building on past successes.
The LA Group of Companies have been successfully undertaking medium to large commercial projects on the Central Coast and Greater Hunter area for over 40 years. Since reemerging in the commercial sector in 2000, the Group have achieved a year-on-year growth and now employees a total of 20 full-time staff with the head office based in Howarth Street, Wyong.

2007 highlights included the completion of the 68 bed residential care facility for Bethshan at Wyee valued at eight million dollars along with the completion of two campuses on the South Coast for Illawarra Christian School. Managing Director, Matthew Lusted stated, “We have just appointed Mr Mel Pope to the position of Construction Manager to assist with managing of our construction projects to ensure quality control. Mel’s background is in high rise development along with past long term employment with Property Management in the financial sector”.

Mr Lusted said that 2008 is set to be an exciting year with the completion of three schools at Gateshead, Warners Bay and Merriwa for the Newcastle/Maitland Catholic Schools Office. In addition work has started on an extension upgrade to Bethshan Nursing Home at Wyee valued at $4 million dollars along with the development of a $2.5 million commercial office development at Hills Street, Gosford for Coastlands Financial Services which units are currently selling by contacting Hinterland Commercial.

“We are taking a responsible approach to training in our company and for the industry at large”, said Mr Lusted. “Presently five apprentices are engaged within the company and our master of apprentices - Mr John McGillicuddy (who has been with the LA Group for over 30 years) is involved with the direct onsite training so that the apprentices get the right start into the trade” he said.

The LA Group of Companies consists of LA Commercial, LA Interiors, Lusted Building Consultants and Lusted Constructions.



New HIA Executive Director for the Hunter and Central Coast

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has appointed Tim Mohr as the new Executive Director for the Hunter Region, with responsibility also for the Central Coast.

Mr Mohr has been with HIA since 2003 during which time he has been responsible for OHS at a senior policy level. He brings with him thirteen years of experience in the investigative, workplace relations and OHS fields from both private and public sector in QLD, NSW and VIC. Prior to joining HIA, Mr Mohr worked with the federal government holding various positions with the Attorney General's department and Industrial Relations departments.

In his new role as Executive Director, Mr Mohr will lead the HIA operations team with the primary objective to provide the highest level of professional service to the residential building industry whilst increasing consultation with state and local authorities to benefit local business in the building sector.

Linx Group starts work on 'Paradiso'
Linx Group has started construction of the luxury apartment development at The Entrance, ‘Paradiso’ with the excavation and shoring works completed allowing for the commencement of the steel piling system. The construction period for the entire project will be fifteen months and is due for completion early 2009.

Linx Group were commissioned to undertake the design and construction of ‘Paradiso’ which comprises 48 apartments over six levels, one level of basement carparking, roof top entertaining terrace, pool and communal outdoor entertaining area.
