Academy initiative to fund for aspiring athletes

The Central Coast Academy of Sport with the support of the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) has introduced an initiative aimed at providing further funds to support high performance training programs for aspiring Central Coast athletes.

The Australian Sports Foundation was established by the Australian Government to assist sporting organisations in raising funds through public and corporate donations for the development of sport in Australia. The Central Coast Academy of Sport’s high performance training programmes initiative has been registered with and is conducted under the charter of the Australian Sports Foundation.

High performance training programmes are designed to advance the technical sporting skills of Central Coast Academy of Sport athletes. Features include video assessment, error identification and correction, heart rate monitoring, sports science integration, and supplementary education sessions such as nutrition, financial fitness, sports psychology and strength and conditioning. The high performance training initiative aims to raise money towards further development of CCAS Sport programmes to continue to provide opportunities for athletes and assist them in reaching their goals.

Money raised through this initiative will support the Central Coast Academy of Sport athletes by offsetting the cost of venue usage, uniforms, camps and the many educational components provided to our regions up and coming athletes. It will also help to offset the cost of the athletes traveling to Armidale for the Academy Games. The Academy Games has been staged on the Central Coast during its initial three years, though this year sees the games move to Armidale (7-9 October).

Central Coast Academy of Sport Managing Director Ian Robilliard believes the initiative will only help to further grow the opportunities for Central Coast athletes. “In a tight commercial market the Australian Sports Foundation initiative will be very important to assist the Academy in the provision of robust training programmes and events such as the Academy Games”.

Since the opening of the Central Coast Academy of Sport in 2004 more than 500 athletes have received scholarships. For the Central Coast Academy of Sport to continue to deliver sports programmes with state of the art technologies they are seeking your support.
