Tyre recycler moves to Coast

Tyre recycler Rubber Solutions Pty Ltd has relocated from Wetherill Park in Sydney to Lisarow.

Established in 2002 by Ray Goldberg, the company has developed specialised machinery to process old car and truck tyres into rubber crumbs and other products extracted from tyres. Rubber Solutions sells technologically advanced tyre recycling equipment as ‘turn-key’ systems exporting worldwide while contracting to purchase the output of such plants for five years.

A typical tyre recycling plant sells for around USD$1.5 million through to US$9,000,000. Mr Goldberg said that the company’s turnover this year will be in the order of $30 million. “All our marketing is internet based and we receive enquiries from all over the globe and we have plants all over the globe,” he said. Recycled rubber is used in a range of products from garden mulch to cosmetics.

Mr Goldberg said that he would be employing thirty people by the end of July. “All are Central Coast people and are skilled. Most had been working in Sydney and welcomed the opportunity to work locally, avoiding the rising costs of petrol,” he said.

Mr Goldberg relocated his company to the Central Coast to accommodate his plans for expansion. “We had trouble finding suitable premises that we could move into immediately and as I live at Avoca and the property at Lisarow was available at a reasonable price we made the decision,” he said.

Mr Goldberg said that he had been surprised by the amount of time it had taken to get approvals through Gosford Council. “Considering we are in an established industrial area and the previous company had operated here for something like twenty years,” he said.

Rubber Solutions has occupied the former premises of Reko in Awaba Road, Lisarow. Reko, a manufacturer of injection moulded products, had relocated their operations to China following the sale of the company to a South African group.
