Terrigal’s $6.2 million family home
The property: 7-9 Pacific Street Terrigal – a spectacular double beachfront property covering 1833sqm with a four bedroom, three bathroom home and double garage with workshop. Beachfront properties like this one are tightly held and not relinquished lightly. The price: $6,200,000 The sale: Sold at auction on Saturday 19th July after a three month campaign that reached local and Sydney media. Approximately 200 people attended the auction with five registered bidders. There were two serious bidders, one from Sydney and the local person who secured the winning bid. The vendor: The property was originally purchased by the Sterland family in 1935 for 38 pounds and has never been traded in the 73 years since. The purchaser: Local businessman, Warren Hughes. The agent: Tim Andrews of LJ Hooker Terrigal commented emotionally, “It is great to see such a beautiful piece of land kept for a family home. To own a beachfront property of this calibre and have it as the family home is really something else. It is going to a family who will appreciate what a beachfront home is for – imagine the enjoyment the children will get from growing up there! Warren and Donna have worked hard to secure this property and no one deserves it more than they do.”
Holgate homes in demand
The property: A home on immaculately maintained 1.162 hectares at RMB 5335 Wattle Tree Road Holgate. The property is positioned at the end of a private laneway in a secluded pocket. The single level home is 20 years old and has a sunny, north facing aspect. It features five bedrooms, three bathrooms, triple garage and pool. The price: $1,200,000 The sale: The sale was the result of a five week marketing campaign with auction, although the buyer had entered negotiations during the auction period and the exchange of contracts took place a month after the auction. The agent: Shaun Hudson-Smith of Ray White Terrigal commented, “Acreage properties are definitely in vogue with two other sales in the last few weeks. Buyers are finding with less competition at present it’s a great time to buy. With forecasts of rate drops coming, that will take the hands out of pockets for plenty of buyers and thus will increase buyer demand.”
