Best students recognised
The Central Coasts best apprentices and trainees have been recognised at an impressive Awards Ceremony at Mingara Recreation Club in late July.
Organised by the Central Coast Apprenticeship & Traineeship Advisory Committee (CCATAC), the Awards are held annually with the winners being eligible to enter the State Awards.
From sixteen Finalists the following winners were:
Vocational School Student of the Year Felicity Harris Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year April Tonkin School Based Apprentice / Trainee of the Year Brenton Pearce 2008 Trainee of the Year Tiffany Spee Traineeship Certificate of Excellence Stefanie Portelli 2008 Apprentice of the Year - Adam Brown Apprentice Certificate of Excellence Brendan Cox
Stefanie Portelli, who won the Traineeship Certificate of Excellence, is Administration Assistant at Central Coast Business Review. She joined the company over two years ago as a Trainee.
I am extremely honoured to have my efforts recognised with this Award. I love my job and I am passionate about my education. My traineeship has given me the knowledge and skills to become a better employee and has given me many opportunities to further my career and personal development. I was not able to complete my HSC due to illness and thus I did not qualify for University the qualifications I now have from completing my traineeship allow me to begin my university studies which I am planning to commence in 2009, she said.
CCATAC is a grouping of registered training organisations, employment agencies and state training service who promote apprenticeships, traineeships and vocational training on the Central Coast. The Chairman is Phillip Williamson.
