Panetta Fruits opens at Westfield Tuggerah -- Musical chairs at Erina Fair

Panetta Fruits opens at Westfield Tuggerah

Fruit and vegetable retailers, Panetta Fruits, have opened a 621sqm store at Westfield Tuggerah, near Woolworths, signing a 10 year lease. They also operate stores at Macquarie Shopping Centre, Gladesville Shopping Centre and Westfield Miranda. Panetta Fruits have taken the premises formerly occupied by Fruit for All, owned by the Hagisefanis Family, for twelve years until November last year.

Fruit for All relocated to Tumbi Umbi with a new store in a community shopping centre after the closure.
Commenting on the move, Partner, Tony Hagisefanis said, “Our lease had expired at Westfield and they wanted us to carry out another expensive refit, as well as pay a substantial increase in rent. We couldn’t make money on that basis. Our move to Tumbi Umbi was the best thing we ever did. We can be competitive because we have cheaper rent. As well we were always fighting Woolworths who were always trying to put us out of business.

Musical chairs at Erina Fair

It seems that traders are leaving Erina Fair faster than new ones can be found with a large number of stores currently boarded up.
However, that hasn’t stopped Victorian based menswear retail chain, Man to Man, opening a new store this month to complement their Westfield Tuggerah store.

Established in 1981, Man to Man is one of Australia’s leading menswear retailers with over seventy stores Australia wide.
However, the up-market Veranda Home & Garden store overlooking The Hive and subject to the construction of the new K-Mart outside their front door, has closed less than a year of opening.

An assistant at the store said that trade had dropped off significantly since the construction and boarding up of the site began. Central Coast Business Review was told that the Perth based company had decided to close now rather than wear any further losses.
