Building Industry NewsCoast builders take out MBA AwardsCentral Coast builders have taken out Awards at the 2008 MBA Excellence in Construction Awards held in Newcastle in late September. North Construction & Building Pty Ltd won in the Commercial Projects over $20 million category for construction of the Avondale Retirement Village at Cooranbong. North’s followed up winning the Interior and Shop Fitouts $500,000 to $1 million category for the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Paediatric Oncology Day Unit at New Lambton. Stevens Construction (NSW) Pty Ltd won their award in the Commercial Projects $6 - $10 million category for construction of Harrington Waters Shopping Centre at Harrington Waters. Stevens then followed up with a Merit Award in the Commercial Projects $1.5 - $3 million category for construction of a McDonalds Restaurant at Belmont. Linx Projects Pty Ltd won two Awards, the first in the Apartment Developments Open Price category for construction of “The Rise” at Terrigal, and the second in the Industrial Building over $2 million category for construction of the Adams Smash Repairs complex at West Gosford. Both projects were designed by local architects Neometro Architects. Linx also won in the HIA’s Hunter Housing Awards a month earlier being awarded the Apartment Project of the Year Award for “The Rise” at Terrigal as well as being a Finalist for the same entry in the Most Innovative Use of Steel Award with the same project. Kincumber builder, Baxter Building Co (NSW) Pty Ltd took out a Merit Award in the Extensions, Renovations and Refurbishments under $1 million category for work on EnergyAustralia’s Elermore Vale premises. Newcastle builder, Kingston Building took out the MBA Judge's Award for construction of the St John the Baptist Church in Woy Woy for the Best Use of Steel and for Public Buildings - $2.5 to $5 million category. It was this project that won them the Commercial Builder of the Year Award. |
