US company moves Australian operations to Erina

The move follows the acquisition of its South Australian-based Australian distributor earlier this year and the appointment of a new Managing Director, Christian Nyman, to head up the Australian business unit and expand the business for Pelican’s International Group.

Mr Nyman brings a diverse background in B2B and B2C sales with such noted manufacturers as LG Electronics, Siemens, Philips Consumer Electronics and LEGO. Most recently, Nyman managed the Asia-Pacific mobile phone business for LG and was responsible for developing LG’s operator and distribution channel strategies for consumer, enterprise, and small/medium business markets.

Pelican products have become well known on the Australian market over the past twenty eight years and the move to the Central Coast is part of a strategy to expand Pelican’s distribution in the region and increase revenue.

The key drivers for the relocation included closer proximity to the majority of the current customer base across multiple market verticals and increased synergy with their trading hours, and a dramatic improvement in logistics performance whilst reducing OPEX. Importantly, the Erina location also facilitates greater overlap of the working day with that of the West Coast USA, where the global HQ is located.

The company operates with a full-time staff of sales, marketing, customer service, finance/administration and warehouse operations professionals, plus a national sales team with Territory Managers in each capital city. Mr Nyman is currently recruiting for positions in several key areas.
