Festival best for yearsThe Central Coast’s major annual event, the Australian Springtime Flora Festival, has been hailed as a great success and a boon for the local economy. After experiencing two consecutive years of unusually heavy rain, organisers were anxiously looking to the skies as Festival commencement day approached this year. It was all good news in the end with the Festival proving to be one of the more successful events in recent years with just over 50,000 visitors participating and 260 exhibits on show. Early survey results have revealed that 39% of the Festival visitors originated from outside the Central Coast region. This is the highest tourism result in the 22 year history of the event. Festival Executive Director Tony Collits was particularly happy with the outcome. “Feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike has been very positive and gives us great encouragement for next year. The result reinforces our standing as one of the top regional events in the State and, based on survey results, over $6 million will be injected into the local economy as a result of sales activity. We were particularly pleased that so many people from outside the region attending”. “All in all, a great outcome and an event of which the community can be proud,” said Mr Collits. |
