Flashpoint expands - buys former Sita depot at West GosfordFlashpoint Fire Service has bought the former Sita depot at West Gosford to cater for expansion of its core business and add a new service to the commercial trucking industry. The 1.4 hectare site comprises a truck washing facility, truck maintenance workshops, truck sales and an extensive office complex, all built some twenty years ago to support Gosford Council’s waste contractors BFI and subsequently Sita. Flashpoint has partnered with Temora Truck & Trailer Sales to provide a used truck sales centre on the site. Managing Director, David McLean, said that recent changes by the RTA for truck drivers to have defined rest periods had created a situation where there are little in the way of rest facilities for long distance drivers on the Central Coast. “For this reason, we have converted part of the office complex to provide a drivers’ sleeping area, showers and lounge,” said Mr Mclean. “The truck washing facility will handle trucks up to B-Double size and all will be hand washed, and we are considering offering full drive-way service for refuelling point.” With a lifetime of experience in operational fire fighting, David and Karen McLean established Flashpoint Fire Service almost a decade ago to provide mobile and static operational fire support, which led to providing bulk water logistics, medic/trauma and triage services for the events and movie industries. “We are a significant player in privately owned operational fire service on the east coast providing services to government and non-government agencies,” said Mr McLean. Flashpoint owns a fleet of thirty-two special purpose vehicles ranging from fire trucks and appliances, water tankers and medical support and command units for emergencies and major events. In addition, Flashpoint has formed a working partnership with Buzz Aviation, a well-respected aviation company providing aviation fire fighting services. “We are highly suited to service major events and we have an established reputation among event organisers, predominantly in Victoria, although we cover all of Australia and at present have people in Western Australia,” said Mr McLean. “All of our sixty staff are highly trained in their respective areas of work and all are Central Coast residents. We are very proud that we are a locally owned Central Coast company and only use local people and local suppliers where possible.” he said. |
