Regional Tourism Gateway Centre heralds in new era

Built at a cost of $1.1 million the 616 sqm Gateway Centre features a large public area, call centre, an internet café, booking facilities for tours, attractions and hotels on the Central Coast, as well as accommodation booking facilities Australia-wide, as well as providing a new office for Central Coast Tourism.

Strategically located only 1.3 km off the F3 Freeway, which is one of Australia’s busiest roads with approximately 16 million motor vehicle movements each year, it is the only Gateway Centre so close to a major highway.

 “We anticipate getting a fair share of the many tourists travelling between Sydney and Brisbane into the centre” Jacqui Greaves, Sales & Information Manager of Central Coast Tourism said. “But this location is also ideally located for visitors to the Central Coast to reach their particular destinations. From here we can direct them to Woy Woy/Ettalong Beach, to the attractions in Dooralong and Yarramalong, to The Entrance and Norah Head, as well as to Terrigal and Avoca, all by the most direct route” she added.

The visitor flow through the centre is expected to be around 200,000+ in the first year.

The Gateway Centre has been funded through a Regional Partnership programme which includes the NSW State Government, the Federal Government, Gosford Council and private funds from Central Coast Tourism. Wyong Council refused to participate as the facility was not built in Wyong.

The centre – built by local builders Pluim Group – has been finished 6 weeks ahead of schedule.
