Central Coast women feature in new business book

The success of a NSW Government program has led to the publication of a book to help business people, particularly women, and includes words of wisdom from a few Central Coast identities.

The book, Heels in Motion, celebrates the Women in Business Program – a mentoring program coordinated by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development (DSRD). The mentor program started more than ten years ago under the leadership of Julie Scott, DSRD’s Executive Director of Small Business Development.

Heels in Motion, which emerged from the success of the Women in Business Program, covers business success stories, challenges and individual views on getting through the tough times. “In 2006, I was completing a round of visits to Regional NSW,” Ms Scott said. “Part of my role was to attend launches and graduations of the popular Women in Business Program, which I did not only out of duty but out of personal pride and interest in being involved in a program that changes lives. “I heard stories, met the incredible women who participated in the program and cheered on the tireless program facilitators who always went above and beyond,” said Ms Scott.

Mentors and mentorees from across NSW were interviewed for the book. They shared their thoughts on business success, how they manage a work/life balance and the legacy they hope to leave as business women. “Their candid views were thoughtful and varied, and what came through strongly was a sense of passion for their businesses, families and the sisterhood of female entrepreneurs, who should always be inspired to step up and keep their Heels in Motion,” Ms Scott said.

The book includes thoughts and views from Central Coast business women Sophie Czerwaniw and Esther Beaton. To order a copy of Heels in Motion go to http://www.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au/ and click on Women in Business.
