June Gibson sets up Workers Compensation audit advice service

Mrs Gibson said that often a business will put the problem in the hands of their accountant who may not be aware of what's going on in a workers compensation sense as accountants are not necessarily workers compensation experts. “I submit appeals and submissions on a client’s behalf depending on their circumstances, as well as attend audits on a client’s behalf providing invaluable information regarding the relationship between the business and the contractors. This information is often the difference between a huge fine and a satisfactory outcome,” she said.
“I now have years of hard experience dealing with WorkCover and insurance companies, firstly in my own business and subsequently advising and negotiating for contractors who have been unfairly treated under the workers compensation system. I work with and interpret the grey area of the legislation that refers to contractor status and can obtain and collate the necessary information required prior to an audit.”
Mrs Gibson said there are also many other areas in which she has successfully helped contractors. These involve the treatment of directors fees, experience premiums, certificate of currency issues etc. “There are also cases where people have paid bills after the moratorium came in on late payment fees, if they apply through me they may be able to get the late payment fees back.”
