Central Coast Tourism - A leader in tourism marketing

Just over fifteen years ago five visionary leaders in the Central Coast tourism industry got together to do something about the alarming slide in visitor numbers to the Region over the previous three years.

Their efforts and those of the Mayors of Gosford and Wyong at the time saw the birth of Central Coast Tourism, a unique organisation made up of the two Councils and industry members. No other tourism organisation in Australia has this government/private industry structure.
Central Coast Tourism (CCT) has been a phenomenal success. It is Australia’s only privately funded tourism organisation and is used as the perfect model for other tourist organisations throughout Australia. So successful has CCT been that for a number of years it won the Best Tourism Organisation Awards at the NSW and Australia Tourism Awards of Excellence.
CCT’s success has largely been due to the professional marketing and management ability of its CEO, Horst Endrulat, who joined the organisation shortly after it began and has stayed on through thick and thin providing a management continuity that is also unique. Of course it has also been due to a highly supported Board of Directors headed firstly by Mingara Recreation Club General Manager, John Osborne and then Peter Hale, General Manager of Ettalong Beach Club who has been Chairman for some twelve years. CCT management introduced business practices and systems to ensure the organisation could deliver the best possible customer service, implemented marketing strategies, was able to raise money from its own business activities and delivered measurable results.
Over the years CCT has always employed highly qualified and efficient staff giving it a competitive edge over other regions. In addition all sales and information staff receive regular training in customer service and sales techniques to achieve higher results. A major initiative, early in CCT’s life was to establish a Call Centre to ensure maximum customer service and customer satisfaction. Another significant initiative in their early years was the introduction of a Centralised Reservation System for members. Developed at a cost of $60,000 this system was specifically designed to CCT’s specifications and was soon snapped up in the Illawarra and, of all places, Wales in the UK.
