Gosford Council appoints Economic Development Advisor

Gosford Council has appointed John Tilston as Advisor Economic Development.

Mr Tilston joins Council after returning from the UK where he ran a small web based publishing company in Cambridge UK reporting on and covering the Cambridge Cluster of High Tech Companies, Europe’s answer to Silicon Valley, for three years. Prior to that he was news editor at Dow Jones responsible for economics and finance coverage in Europe Middle East and Africa based in London 
Before moving to the UK he worked in the Queensland Premiers Department, as Director of Economic Development for six years.
At Gosford Council Mr Tilston will have two roles, the first will be to have input into LGA-wide planning taking into account the economic needs of the area and secondly to boost local investment initiatives by providing a customised service for major employment generating developments.
A major development is defined as:
• All commercial, industrial and tourism developments in excess of $2 million; and/or
• Projects resulting in the direct full-time employment of twenty or more people after construction.
He will be reporting to Director of Environment and Planning, Colleen Worthy-Jennings.
