Central Coast welcomes visitors from Shanghai
In 2004/5 Central Coast Tourism successfully marketed the region in Shanghai as part of a seven-day trip to Australia with Qantas Holidays.
Together with Tourism New South Wales, CCT convinced a consortium of leading travel agents and Qantas Shanghai to include one night two days on the Central Coast, which delivered some 500 visitors from China. The region has fought off strong competition from not only other countries but also from within Australia, mainly Queensland, to secure this business. In the last 12 months through personal sales visits and negotiations in Shanghai and Hong Kong, CCT and TNSW were able continue this business and commence the 2007 schedule of tours. The first group of 21 Chinese visitors happily arrived on 30th January and stayed at the Outrigger Ettalong Beach Resort followed by a visit to the Australian Reptile Park as well as the Pelican feeding in The Entrance. “We are pleased that we were able to bring these groups back to the Central Coast” Horst Endrulat CEO of CCT said “but the competition is getting fierce and other destinations pump a lot of money into these markets to secure the business” he added. At the end of January CCT hosted and organised a visit for a group of 10 media from Shanghai including a World Traveller TV Show, Shanghai Radio Station, a travel magazine and a leading Chinese travel website. The group participated in Quad Biking at Glenworth Valley, lots of hands on animal encounters at the Australian Reptile Park, the Pelican Feeding at The Entrance and an evening Crab n Oyster Cruise.
