Gosford Mayor leads the charge in support of The Landing

Mayor of Gosford City, Councillor Laurie Maher has again come out in support of The Landing at Gosford following recent public comment regarding its Masterplan.

"This Plan has been developed over a number of years in partnership with the community," said Councillor Maher.

"The Masterplan we see before us today is a direct result of the community consultation process carried out through Vision2025 and the Gosford Challenge dating back to 2006.

"Through this process we have listened to the thoughts and expectations of our residents for the revitalisation of the Gosford CBD and waterfront.

"It is these community expectations regarding social, economic and employment issues that have shaped the design of this Masterplan from the Central Coast Regional Development Corporation (CCRDC)," he said.

"Following the results of feedback from community members originally involved in the Gosford Challenge, Council unanimously moved to support The Landing for the purpose of developing detailed plans, undertaking further financial analysis and seeking public comment.

"The Masterplan endorsed by Council included residential, commercial and community infrastructure inclusive of finger wharves," said Councillor Maher.

He acknowledged the work of CCRDC in delivering on the design criteria set out in the Gosford Challenge by the community and said that now the hard work lies ahead in more detailed planning. "CCRDC have recently placed this Masterplan on public exhibition and received feedback which will be considered as part of further planning process.

"The outcomes of this plan will see significant investment and employment opportunities and transform Gosford into the landmark city of the Central Coast.

"By creating this commercial and cultural hub, it will ensure long term stability of our local economy and provide an anticipated 4,000 jobs within the region," said Councillor Maher.

Investigation into infrastructure funding sources

Meanwhile at its 10th Reconvened Council Meeting, Gosford Councillors unanimously supported a Mayoral Minute put forward by Mayor Laurie Maher regarding infrastructure funding for projects associated with The Landing at Gosford.

Councillor Maher said that preliminary investigations into funding sources for infrastructure at The Landing will assist planning and development to continue to move forward smoothly.

"Researching and identifying potential funding sources will make certain the viability of infrastructure and development projects for The Landing.

"As a Council we must do our upmost to attract potential investors from both the public and private sector in an effort to improve infrastructure and business within Gosford," he said.
