Jo Heighway wins national business Award

Gosford proprietor of superannuation audit firm Engage Super Audits (formerly SMSF Outsource Solutions), Jo Heighway has taken out the Young Business Woman of the Year at the 2011 Telstra Australian Business Women’s Awards in Melbourne.

Established as a home-based business, Engage Super Audits has grown into a national company in just six years.

Using her expertise in auditing superannuation funds gained from a decade at Deloitte, and capitalising on changes to laws that allowed employees to choose their own fund, she began auditing funds for a single client. Today, her business has more than 3,000 clients nationally, including more than sixty accountancy firms, making it the second largest auditor in the Australian superannuation industry.

Ms Heighway’s passion for professional development saw her establish Central Coast Young Chartered Accountants to mentor young people to find their niche within the industry.

Awards judges described Ms Heighway as an astute business woman who created a business opportunity to address auditing shortages in the Australian superannuation industry.
