Innov8 Central, with the support of TAFE Central Coast Campuses and Enterprise Connect Innovative Regions Centre, have teamed up and embarked on a project to encourage as many business enterprises as possible to participate in National Telework Week. 

Throughout the year, project members will engage with businesses, local councils and government agencies to increase their understanding of telework. There will be particular focus on next-generation telework using the NBN (National Broadband Network) with the intention of securing involvement. Telework offers the Central Coast an opportunity to host new business models for the employers of Central Coast residents, helping to drive the local economy and assisting the social well being of the community. 

Teleworking is an arrangement between employees and employers which enables individuals to experience flexibility in their working locations and hours. 

With up to 40,000 Central Coast residents commuting daily to either Sydney or Newcastle, the project is aiming to educate and inform these employees and their employers of the many advantages of teleworking.

For teleworking to be successful on the Central Coast a relationship involving a shift in culture and trust between employees, employers and relevant unions is essential. 

Telework is generally for spans of 1 - 2 days per week and may be carried out at home, in a mobile office, in a designated office or a combination of these options.
