Influential Chinese travel agents visit Coast
A delegation of China’s most influential travel agents, from Beijing and Shanghai, spent three days on the Central Coast, in early December 2007 as part of a familiarisation visit that is expected to see the Central Coast included in tourism packages for the growing Chinese tourism market.
Organised by Tourism Australia and sponsored by Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary DragonAir, 16 of China’s most senior travel agents arrived on the Central Coast on Saturday morning by seaplane and in the evening were welcomed at a VIP Cocktail Party by Member for The Entrance, representing the Premier, Grant McBride, Gosford Mayor, Jim Macfadyen and Wyong Mayor, Warren Welham. During their stay the delegation was introduced to the Coast’s leading tourist attractions and stayed at the Mantra Resort Ettalong Beach and Quay West Resort Magenta Shores before returning to Sydney. The delegation was hosted by Central Coast Tourism on the Central Coast and supported by Business Central Coast. The aim of the visit was to introduce the delegates to the region with a view to them including and recommending the Central Coast in their Australian packages in 2008 and beyond. The visit has been a coup for Central Coast Tourism which has been targeting the growing Chinese market for some years. The Central Coast is already a preferred destination for Korean visitors as it is now included in packages by Korean travel wholesalers. This follows years of hard work by Central Coast Tourism.
