Work starts on Primo Smallgoods Warnervale Distribution Centre -- Baulderstone wins new Mardi Dam project -- Substation nears completion
Work starts on Primo Smallgoods Warnervale Distribution Centre
Erina-based builder, Stevens Construction has started work on Primo Smallgoods’ $9 million Distribution Centre at Warnervale. The facility will be a cold storage and distribution operation for Primo and their associated brands of smallgoods to the Central Coast region.
Primo Project Manager, Tony Stills said, “We are pleased to have engaged the services of a local building company in Stevens Construction.” The projected completion date has been set down for the first quarter of 2010.
The development is expected to create around 50 local jobs when completed. Mr Stills said, “Primo are very appreciative of the support and assistance provided by Wyong Shire Council and the Department of State and Regional Development.”
Baulderstone wins new Mardi Dam project
Wyong Shire Council has selected Baulderstone as the contractor for the upgrade of the Mardi Dam Transfer and High Lift Systems at Mardi.
Mardi Dam is an off-river storage dam located near the Wyong River. The project is being funded jointly by Wyong and Gosford Councils as part of augmentations to their joint water supply scheme.
The proposed works include:
- Modifying the Mardi Dam to Mardi Water Treatment Plant Transfer System;
- A new Mardi High Lift pumping station; and
- High voltage power upgrade works.
Wyong Shire Council's Director of Shire Services, Paul Wise said the Council had selected Baulterstone after an intensive tender process. "Baulderstone provided Council with the opportunity to use a large reputable company with experience and a proven capability of completing the work. As part of the tender negotiations, Baulderstone offered construction techniques that will be a significant benefit to the project and Council," he said.
Bauldersone will begin preparatory works in August and is due to complete the project in mid-late 2010.
Substation nears completion
EnergyAustralia line crews and technicians are completing works on the new Wamberal zone substation in readiness to connect the facility to the network. The $22 million substation will be brought into service from October, improving reliability and security of supply for around 10,000 customers in the beachside suburbs of Wamberal, Terrigal, Avoca and Erina.
The substation is part of the $50 million Ourimbah-Wamberal upgrade project, which also involves construction of a 132,000 volt power line to connect the substation to a major supply point at Ourimbah.
EnergyAustralia’s General Manager Engineering, Geoff Lilliss said the substation interconnection work would take place in the Wamberal/Terrigal area so that the substation can be brought into service.
EnergyAustralia crews are also preparing to tackle the last kilometres of the underground-overhead Ourimbah-Wamberal line. 132,000 volt underground cables are being installed in conduits buried earlier this year in trenches through the Wamberal residential area, while the final phase of work on the overhead component of the line along Tumbi Road, Hansens Road and Bohringer Lane is now underway.
The final section of the line will be built in easements between Bohringer Lane and EnergyAustralia’s Ourimbah supply point in Yates Road, Ourimbah.
