The new church is currently being constructed on a picturesque hill-top site, located on Serpentine Road opposite Star of The Sea Catholic Church, It will replace the existing St Marks Church currently located in the Terrigal CBD. The church has been designed by Sydney architects, Thrum Architects who, along with other invited architects, were selected to design the new complex. As well as being a more peaceful environment with far less traffic noise, other advantages of the new location include the ability of the sites' larger size to provide much improved car parking, and more space for a wider range of multi-purpose rooms within the church complex. The priority was to better meet the growing needs of families, weddings and other groups using the church. The project brief called for a building that was both visually expressive and functionally flexible.
