It joins other Kmarts on the Central Coast at Woy Woy, Bateau Bay and Gorokan. The new 5,200sqm store features large clear walkways as opposed to the traditional aisles as part of a redesign for all Kmarts. Almost half of the store is allocated to apparel, which is another change is style for the chain. Kmart is now owned by Wesfarmers Limited, following its take-over of the Coles Group in 2007, and is part of a $300 million investment in new stores and refurbishments that it hopes will turn around the lacklustre operation. At Erina Fair, Kmart joins Big W and Target to enhance their discount department store offering. Additional specialty stores have also been added adjacent to Kmart, including Slimes Surf Store, Temt, Rags to Riches, Sage Express coffee stand and Australian Geographic which has relocated from within the centre, while Rebel Sport has also relocated nearby to accommodate the new Kmart store.
Slimes relocates at Erina FairWell known surf store, Slimes Surf & Skate, has relocated to a new site close to Kmart at Erina Fair. Store owner, Paul Green said that the move from a larger store on the Boardwalk at the Fair to a smaller store provided an opportunity to also open a specialist Rip Curl store on the Boardwalk. The Rip Curl store is the first to open on the Central Coast and is one of only forty throughout Australia. “We maintain our Slimes Board Store on The Entrance Road from which we maintain our stock levels at Erina Fair,” said Mr Green. With a stock of over five hundred boards, it is a super store that services customers from Newcastle to Sydney. Mr Green opened his first Slimes store in Imperial Centre, Gosford some 21 years ago and the Erina Fair store 16 years ago. |
