Councils to promote Buy Local campaignWyong and Gosford Councils have joined forces with the Central Coast Business Enterprise Centre to promote a ‘Buy Local’ campaign. The Buy Local campaign is designed to encourage local residents and businesses to buy goods and services locally, to support local jobs and help stimulate the local economy. Mayor of Gosford, Clr Chris Holstein said the Buy Local campaign is about encouraging investment in our local community and showing pride in our region. “Supporting one another is what our Central Coast community is all about,” said Clr Holstein. “As Mayor of Gosford City, I would ask that you all give your local businesses – who employ your children, friends and relatives – a genuine opportunity to do business together. “Buy Local grows confidence in our local economy and gives us the opportunity to develop a strong and prosperous region to a standard worthy of all who live and work here,” he said. Wyong Mayor, Clr Bob Graham said it was vitally important that local people support local businesses. “Everyone knows these are tough times for a lot of people in our community,” said Clr Graham. “This campaign is all about putting up your hand to help out the people and businesses in our community who most need it. “I certainly encourage all Wyong Shire residents to think very seriously about where they spend their hard earned dollars in these difficult times and I’m sure nobody would like to see any small business forced to close up shop. “Traditionally, this is an area that gets behind and supports one another in times of need and that’s what this campaign aims to do,” said Clr Graham. |
