Export the next big earner for goat soap company

Success on the Australian market for Billie Goat Soap products has led owner Leanne Faulkner to look at opportunities worldwide for her product.

Mrs Faulkner established Billie Goat Soap five years ago after looking at ways to sell the milk from her goat herd at Ourimbah. The success of her hand-made goats milk soap at local markets and shows quickly lead to enquiries from Central Coast health food stores and then into the wider retail sector. Billie Goat Soap can also now be found on the shelves of national department store, Myer.

While carrying out research into goats milk products, Mrs Faulkner found a connection between eczema and goats milk. This led her to enroll in a soap making course, and with that skill she began to experiment with various recipes until she hit on “an amazingly successful recipe”. With some clever television marketing and a clever brand, Billie Goat Soap is now the number one market leader.

Today Mrs Faulkner employs fifteen people at her Fountaindale factory and sells to over one thousand retail stores nationally. The next step is for the product to be marketed overseas, and trial shipments have already been made to Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
