Leadership Award open for nominationsThe search has begun to find our Region’s future leaders for this year’s Leadership Award presented by the University of Newcastle.The Award recognises and encourages emerging leaders under the age of 35 in the Central Coast, Hunter and Mid-North Coast regions, providing the winner with unique opportunities to develop their skills. Central Coast businesses, clubs and the community are being called on to identify talented youth who demonstrate leadership with respect to both their career and community activities. The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nicholas Saunders, said our local regions were fortunate to have such a large pool of leadership talent to develop. “Today’s young leaders are the key to a strong future for our regions. Investing in our young people today will reap rewards for tomorrow,” he said. The winner of this year’s Leadership Award will receive a package of prizes including a $10,000 leadership development scholarship and be linked with a high profile leader in the region on a one year mentor program. Young leaders from the Central Coast received the top two honours in the previous year with entrepreneur, Bronwyn Hall, of Sarotoga named the winner of the Leadership Award for her vision and ingenuity in developing education resources to help students overcome the fear of essay writing. Other previous winners include CEO of HMRI, Brad Webb and David Newham, an active member of the Newcastle local Aboriginal community. The Leadership Award is sponsored by the University of Newcastle, FordComm and Coal and Allied Trust. It also receives generous support from the Hunter Business Chamber, Regional Development Australia, Newcastle Business Club, Central Coast, Hunter and Mid-North Coast residents under the age of 35 can be nominated for the award.
