Bambi exports woollen quilts to China

West-Gosford manufacturer of woollen and natural fibre bedding products, Bambi Enterprises, is expecting to develop a market in China for their woollen quilts.

Managing Director, Peter Witney said that their first order had been shipped just prior to Christmas and had been well accepted. “Australian wool is considered to be the best in the world and is regarded as a prestige fibre in Asia,” said Mr Witney. The company exports around five percent of their products with customers in Japan and Korea.

A family owned company, Bambi is a leading manufacturer of bedding products in Australia. Over the thirty years since the business was established in the family garage, the Bambi brand has developed a reputation for excellence in design and manufacture due to the superiority of their wool, innovative products and use of the most advanced manufacturing technology.
As a reflection of their commitment to innovation the company now manufactures a range of ‘earth-friendly’ natural bedding products using corn, eucalyptus and plantation bamboo fibres.

“Because of our reputation it is essential that we capitalise on the brand and introduce new products where we see an opportunity,” said Mr Witney, commenting on the highly successful introduction of their ‘earth-friendly’ products.
“Our next move is into pillow manufacturing and we are presently installing plant that will see us putting out 2,000 pillows each day,” he said.

Commenting on the highly competitive retail market in Australia, Mr Witney was full of praise for bedding retailers such as Harvey Norman, Snooze, Forty Winks and others. “They are great supporters of Australian made products. And they are a good companies to do business with,” he said. Bambi Enterprises remains a family owned business with Peter Witney’s two sons now part of the operation. Tim Witney is National Sales Manager while broth Greg is Factory Manager.
