Pet resort not just for local dogs or cats!
Pet Resorts Australia have opened a five-star luxury resort for dogs and cats at Terrigal that is aimed at the local community as well as tourists and pet owners in Sydney’s eastern and northern suburbs.
The $2 million dollar facility has been built on a 2-hectare site near the corner of Terrigal Drive and Serpentine Road, Terrigal.
Pet Resorts Australia also operate a pet resort at Dural however the Terrigal resort, which has been three years in the planning and took twelve months to build, is designed to take pet resorts to another level.
Owners David and Maria Levy joined with Steve and Vicki Austin to plan and build the ultimate pet resort. The Austins are recognised as Australia’s leading dog trainers with Steve Austin being the President of the Pet Industry Association of Australia.
Mr Austin has been a major figure in the professional pet industry for some decades, from lecturing to American Law Enforcement Agencies, to training Australia’s first truffle detector dog in Tasmania, to speaking on animal training at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo and many other similar roles.
Mrs Austin has over twenty years experience as a dog trainer and lectures for the National Dog Trainers Association.
Mr Austin said that the company had chosen Terrigal due to its location on the Central Coast as a holiday destination and the socio-demographics of the area.
“There are people who want to bring their pets with them on holiday and this resort offers them New York style accommodation. At the same time there are local residents who need to leave their pets behind and we offer a whole range of services to ensure the happiness of their pets.”
Dogs are accommodated in stables with underfloor heating and courtyard access and are matched according to size and temperament. Smaller house animals are accommodated in air-conditioned rooms with television.
Mr Austin said that they would also be offering a similar service to people in the eastern and northern suburbs of Sydney with a pick-up service.
The resort offers a wide range of factilities and services including a lap pool, commando exercise course, lagoon, puppy picnics, day spa and grooming.
The Terrigal resort employs fifteen people with additional staff during holiday periods.
Over the Christmas period the Terrigal pet resort accommodated over 250 dogs and cats and Mr Austin said that already owners are bringing their pets back.
