Sydney manufacturer moves to Somersby

A fourth generation family business with a history spanning over fifty years Interloc relocated from Strathfield to Somersby to allow for further expansion of their operations.

Their head office will continue to operate from premises at South Granville.

The 3,000 sqm factory has been built on 6,000 sqm of land and was completed just prior to Christmas last year.

Commenting on the move Managing Director, John Bryant, said that they needed to own their own premises and after looking around Sydney they found the best value for money was on the Central Coast.

"This move has been a four year process," said Mr Bryant, "we looked at Wyong and Tuggerah but ended up settling for Somersby."

The company employs thirty-four people at Somersby most of whom are Central Coast residents. Mr Bryant said that they have employed four apprentices, two of whom have been working with the company for the past two years and commuting to Strathfield.

Interloc also manufacture plastic and steel lockers and seating which are marketed across Australia and overseas. The company supplied James Packer's Crown Casino in Macao with lockers for their change rooms.

The original Bryant company, Utick, was set up as a sub-contract supplier of high quality office furniture to the furniture trade. Mr Bryant said that they had recently established a new company, Inter-room Pty Ltd, Healthcare Room Furniture, which supplies health and aged care facilities with specially designed and built furniture.

Mr Brant said that the whole Group is committed to conducting their business with due concern for the natural environment and with consideration of the local community and neighbours.

"Our companies' commitment extends to operating in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZ ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System requirements," he said.
