Bambi welcomes Chinese buyers

Mid-November saw West Gosford based Bambi Enterprises welcome a delegation of over 50 Chinese buyers and journalists to inspect their plant and see for themselves how Bambi produces their range of natural fibre bedding products.

Visitors included Mr Kaisi Li, Deputy General Manager of JD Worldwide along with other JD Worldwide executives, Mr Sam Bai CEO of Wellsky (China) Limited, a long standing Bambi customer and a group of journalists from Central China TV (CCTV) who accompanied the delegation.

JD Worldwide is the cross border platform for JD.com, the largest retailer in China and recently placed an order for 1510 pieces of Bambi alpaca quilts and pillows. Wellsky (China) Limited is a Hong Kong based trading company.

On arrival in Sydney the group was met by Bambi General Manager, Greg Witney for the EcoTouch product launch and were welcomed by the Parliamentary Secretary to the NSW Premier Jonathan O’Dea MP at the Hilton International. Mr O’Dea then joined Mr Li, Mr Bai and Mr Witney for lunch at the Hilton.

Also attending the welcome in Sydney was Kristen Ohandja, Manager NSW Trade & Industry and the Chinese Consul (Commerce) Ms Hongbo Wang.

On their arrival at West Gosford the group were welcomed by Bambi Managing Director Peter Witney, Deputy Mayor of Central Coast Council, Chris Holstein, Member for Gosford, Liesel Tesch MP and Member for Terrigal, representing the Government Adam Crouch.
They were also welcomed by a small herd of Alpacas. Bambi produces alpaca quilts and pillows under the EcoTouch brand.

They were then escorted through the Bambi factory to learn how the company manufactures their products which include quilts, pillows, protectors and mattress toppers and underblankets.

Bambi Enterprises was founded by Peter and Janita Witney in 1984 in their home at Point Clare and remains a family owned and managed company.

They are one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of quality bedding selling to Harvey Norman, Domayne and other leading Australian retailers as well as exporting to countries in Asia and the North America.

Whilst Bambi uses the most advanced manufacturing technology most of the work is hand crafted and custom made by their local skilled workforce.
