Cover Story April 2008 Cover StoryThe Central Coast’s two regional shopping centres – Erina Fair and Westfield Tuggerah – achieved a turnover of just over a billion dollars for 2007 according to the annual Big Guns survey by Shopping Centre News. Turnover for 2007 totalled $1.031 billion dollars compared with $980 million in 2006. Individually, Erina Fair’s turnover was $572 million, up 3.4% on 2006 while Westfield Tuggerah’s turnover was $459 million up 7.5%.Specialty* Moving Average Turnover (MAT) per square metre for the two centres was: • Erina Fair - $6,971 (2006 – $6,807) • Westfield Tuggerah - $6,897 (2006 - $6,824) (* Specialty relates to tenancies under 400sqm) SCN also reported that the Average Spend per visit at Erina Fair was $45.23 and at Westfield Tuggerah $44.90. Commenting on the results Westfield Tuggerah Centre Manager, Michael Charlton, said that he was pleased with the result which shows the Centre is progressing well with further work to do in preparation for their next extension in a couple of years. “It is pleasing that the northern end of the Central Coast is growing, placing our Centre’s results up there with the best centres in Australia,” he said. According to SCN 10.2 million people visited Westfield Tuggerah in the period while 12.6 million visited Erina Fair. Commenting on the spend per visit, Mr Charlton said that when compared with other centres in other areas it was much higher and could be attributed to the longer ‘dwell time’ in the centre. |
