Pure Fishing Australia has opened an $8 million warehouse and office extension to their present distribution centre at Tuggerah Business Park.

Pure Fishing is the largest supplier of fishing tackle in the world and their Tuggerah facility is also the base for their Australian head office. The new facility comprises a 7,000 square metre warehouse and offices which was built by Newcastle building company GWH Group for the owners DD Corporate Pty Ltd and leased to Pure Fishing on a ten year lease.

The facility was opened in late March by NSW Minister for Planning, the Hon. Kristina Kenneally. Pure Fishing Managing Director, Phillip Coles is presently in the United States attending meetings with the company’s parent, Jarden Corporation – a Fortune 500 company.

Speaking on his behalf, the Pure Fishing’s Finance Director, John Gould said, “The expansion follows the acquisition of competitor, Shakespeare Fishing Equipment by Jarden Corporation in March 2007, necessitating the integration of the two businesses under one roof.”

Mr Gould said that Pure Fishing is heading towards the best trading quarter in the company’s history due to their advantage in the market and buoyant trading conditions in this retail sector.

Mr Gould said that Pure Fishing, which had been based at Brookvale, chose to locate to Tuggerah in the first place due to occupancy cost savings compared with elsewhere in the metropolitan area, a strong labour pool which had access to good road and public transport. In addition, major freight carriers in and around Tuggerah Business Park enable them to offer an excellent delivery service to customers throughout Australia.

Pure Fishing supplies major retail stores including Big W, K-Mart, BCF and over 450 independent retailers of fishing tackle throughout Australia.
