Five of the Central Coast’s manufacturing companies have been recognised as leaders in innovation at the 5th EnergyAustralia Central Coast Manufacturers’ Association (CCMA) Innovation Awards of Excellence and Gala Ball held at Crowne Plaza Terrigal in late May. • Bambi Enterprises for Innovation in Manufacturing • CSR-Hebel for Innovation in workplace structure and design • Borg Manufacturing for Innovative processes in manufacturing kitchen doors and melamine sheeting • Donaldson Australia for Innovation in manufacturing and training, and • Steinbok Schnapps for Innovation in product development and marketing. Congratulating the winners, CCMA President John Harris emphasised the importance of the manufacturing sector to the Region saying that it is the second largest employer after retail in the Region. Mr Harris also announced that the CCMA had successfully led a local consortium that would see an Australian Technical College established on the Coast. He also announced that the CCMA had established a Quality Accreditation system that would be launched at a special breakfast presentation on 7th June. “A pilot company has taken up the program. The feedback has been excellent,” he said. “It is specifically targeted at those small to medium companies who need a quality element to their business but cannot afford the onerous costs & requirements of a full blown ISO system.” Companies that successfully undertake the program will be issued with a CCMA Quality Endorsement logo that can be applied to letterheads & stationery etc. Mr Harris thanked EnergyAustralia for their support of the Awards since their inauguration five years ago. “EnergyAustralia has been a Platinum Sponsor all along showing their support for the manufacturing industry,” he said.
